Do I need Wi-Fi?
Yes, a 2.4GHz network. A network that is 5GHz only will not work. With no Wi-Fi where the kit is kept, a mobile hotspot can connect it.

How long does the battery last?
Up to 18 months on one charge with normal use. The app reminds you to recharge when the battery drops below 20%. A USB-C cable is included.

Is there a subscription?
No. There are no monthly or yearly fees. Text, email, and push alerts are all included.

How hard is it to set up?
About five minutes. Download the free Kini app, create an account, enter your Wi-Fi details, and place the device. No tools or installer needed.

Is my information private?
Kini has no camera and no GPS, and does no location tracking. It keeps only your contact details and the device's activity log, which it needs to send alerts. Kini says it does not sell your data.

Will it work in a garage, basement, outbuilding, or car?
Yes, if your Wi-Fi reaches it. A Wi-Fi extender or a mobile hotspot can cover a weak spot, and a hotspot left in the car keeps it connected there.
